By comparing clean vs. dirty (raw) fiber across four distinct breeds, you can easily see the differences in the breed fiber structure. These are great for teachers or demonstrators who want to visually share the differences in the breeds.

Study the Dirty Fiber:

• The Smell & Feel: Notice the scent of the earth and the "tacky" feel of the lanolin (natural sheep oil). This oil is what keeps sheep waterproof in the rain!

• The Lock Structure: Look at how the wool clumps together. Compare the Lincoln and Wensleydale (Longwools) with their heavy, wavy "locks" to the dense, springy "cloud" of the Cormo.

• The "VM" Hunt: Look for bits of straw or clover (Vegetable Matter) tucked into the wool. This shows you exactly what that sheep was eating and where it was grazing!

Study the Clean Fiber:

When you lay out the four clean samples side-by-side, you will see distinct differences.
